PAR Biogas Ltd is made up of a group of three livestock farmers in Cookstown. They take in waste from local abattoirs and dairy factories to fuel the plant. They share infrastructure and machinery and have a long history of cooperation. The plant sits on our land
The plant has a peak capacity of 1.0 MW which is generated by Biomass
The plant is designed to recreate a process that occurs in the natural environment where organic materials are broken down in the absence of oxygen. Anaerobic Digestion is where food waste is added to an enclosed tank. Microorganisms called methanogens are added to break down the waste. As the waste breaks down it creates biogas which can be collected and used to generate electricity heat or transport fuels. It also produces Biofertiliser that can be used in farming and land regeneration.
